Worlds Always Raining Here
A downloadable soundtrack
This song was made for the 8 Bits To Infinity Music Challenge Held on Itch.io from February 16th - 18th. 1 weekend to make a piece of music between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in length and it must loop.
The theme for the challenge was "Inclement Weather" meaning weather that you wouldn't want to go outside in. This can include things like tornadoes, hurricanes, or even just a bad rainstorm.
For my song, I went pretty simple, I imagined a world where there exists no sunlight. It is constant rain, constant wet, and constant cold. Those unfortunate enough to be dealt a bad hand in life have to deal with those problems much more harshly. Thus, the image of a shack-like structure with a constant leak in the ceiling is what I chose.
The dripping of the water acts as the "percussion" in the song as it echoes in the dreary cabin whilst you shiver in the cold blue world that you've only known.
The title has a double meaning, both the literal, the world here is in a constant rainstorm, but also that peoples individual worlds, their lives, are in a state of sadness and depression with little hope of salvation.
This song is in C#/Db Minor to give off a very sad feeling.
The piano has a cold tone with the chill of the rain, the glockenspiel give icy vibes with the wind sweeping through the old cabin, the choir is symbolic of those in the world who can't escape the wet of the rain, the bass is heavy with the weight of the clouds above, and the synth, well, the synth just sounds cool.
The song loops at exactly 1:55 so it is in the 2 minute time frame.
The song is in 3/4 time since I think that fits a sad vibe really well. I also got inspiration from Legend Of Zelda's song of storms as that is is 3/4 time
It follows an A A* B B* C C* pattern which I got inspiration from Banjo Kazooie songs since a lot of them tend to have that kind of structure within every 8 measures.
Enjoy!
